Sew Cool School at Cate’s Sew Modern provides kids a fun, creative environment to work on projects that will teach them how to follow detailed instructions as well as master basic sewing techniques. The curriculum is class-driven, and past projects have ranged from easy pillows to complex, lined, draw-string bags. Pajama bottoms, peasant blouses, and a stuffed iPad stand have been kid-favorites. Projects can even include non-traditional materials like screen, feed sacks, and paper. Bring a snack and enjoy some creative time after school!
Since we work so intimately with each child, if your daughter or son is new, we require a one-time, one-hour Meet Your Maker lesson for $30 before integrating them into Sew Cool School. This allows us to best understand each child’s interests and imagination as well as facility with the tools of hand and machine sewing. It also hastens the bonding between teacher and student, allowing the child to focus more on gaining comfort with classmates upon starting the program.
PLEASE NOTE: If your child participated in Sew Cool School or Sew Cool Summer Camp this past year, it will not be necessary to book a private lesson before enrolling.
Because the maximum capacity for Sew Cool School is only six children per afternoon, you must reserve space ahead of time, regardless of package. Drop-ins are available for $35 per session when space allows, but these drop-in sessions must be signed up for in person or over the phone.
