Do you have a sewing machine combined with an embroidery unit? Have you ignored that unit since purchase, unsure of how and when to tackle the mountain of information and learning between you and the joy of discovery?
You’re not alone. Machine Embroidery has become a rich source of personalizing, well, pretty much everything. Just choosing a design can be overwhelming, but what next? Knowing your sewing machine doesn’t cut it, since the embroidery portion is more of a robotics challenge, with much more IT involved.
Join us for a four-week class to learn everything from the fundamentals of how to navigate your machine’s own system, to using stabilizers, picking threads, managing multi-color masterpieces, creating “in-the-hoop” projects, what to do with challenging fabrics (e.g. nap, stretch, pile), three dimensional items and even multi-hoop jobs. Exact projects will depend on students’ machines but we will do one project a week, progressing from simple to more complex.

Chris Wickham has always been fascinated by computers which led to a career supporting data centers and the technology in them. Chris’s journey with machine embroidery began with a desire to make a dance bag with her daughter’s name on it. 10+years (and several dance bags) later she still finds joy in the creativity brought out by her embroidery machine and is delighted that her love of technology extends to her sewing room.
