Description
Do you fantasize about making quilts of your own, but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered! In this four-session class, you’ll learn all of the techniques you need to make your very own runner from start to finish: color curation, fabric auditioning, cutting & piecing fabric, backing, quilting, and binding. It’s time to let those quilt dreams become reality!
While there is work that must be done out of class, if you do your part, the class is designed so that you can finish the entire project other than hand stitching the binding to the back of the quilt. And just in time for the holidays!
PLEASE NOTE: You must be comfortable using a sewing machine by week 2. If you are not, please call the shop to schedule a private lesson before class begins to gain confidence and skill.
- When: Tuesday/Thursday 6-9 PM, November 29th, December 1st, 6th, 8th (class can adjust exact start time)
- Instructor: Diane Fernald
- Fee: $199 + cost of materials. Sewing machine rental available for $5/day
- Prerequisite: Sewing skills and familiarity with your sewing machine required. Comfortable sewing straight lines and smaller seams. If you are “rusty” or don’t use your machine regularly, we recommend School of Sewing prior to taking this course.

Instructor Bio: Cate Boeth is owner, instructor, curator, and personality extraordinaire of Cate’s Sew Modern. After realizing her passion for modern quilts and modern fabrics, she opened Cate’s Sew Modern in 2008 and has never looked back. Now she’s our fan-favorite instructor with skills in everything from quilting to garment construction.
