Our Seasonal Last-Minute Gift workshops on Wednesdays and Thursdays begin this week!!
We’re still working out the kinks re: newsletters and website management, but we are READY for our first ever set of workshops, so we will all learn together. Materials fees are still being determined for each item (and will be posted as we figure them all out,) but there is no cost simply to attend. And no worries — none of these projects are designed to break the bank. For instance, this week’s materials fees will start at $5 and only go up if more material is used.
Wednesdays are for kids. Thursdays are for adults. Both sessions run from 4-7pm. Exact dates? Nov 30/Dec 1; Dec 7/8th, Dec 14/15th, Dec 21/22nd. Parents are welcome to work with their children (aha, the kids say, a loophole!!)
Here’s what to expect: Relaxed sessions where you have a choice of two projects, depending on your interests, skill level and ambitions, or a four-week long option for adults only this time.
Here’s what to bring: your sewing machine and a travel sewing kit (scissors, neutral thread, hand-sewing needle, pins/clips, seam ripper.) No machine? No worries! You can rent one for $5 from us.
We will have two tracks for adults, one for children.
Option A (grown-ups only this time around:) a four-week table runner workshop. Chalkboard fabric is available to use as a border to identify dishes or seating arrangements if you like.
Option B: Just a taste of all the cool things we want to teach you in the coming months (kids and grown-ups:)
Nov 30/Dec 1: Birds!! Learn how to make the birds we have adorning the shop or some sweet little chicken pattern/paper weights.
Dec 7/8: Totes!! The reversible and convenient Japanese Knot bag, or a simple grocery tote.
Dec 14/15: Round Stuff!! Tree ornaments and (maybe your very first!) pincushions.
Dec 21/22: Hot stuff!! Actual potholders that WORK and “mug rug” coasters that won’t leave a ring on the furniture either!
Want to participate? If you can, tell us either at 203-856-2257 or CatesSewModern@gmail.com. This is not required, just helpful for the best preparation possible. We hope to see your smiling faces warming the place up in just a day or two!! — Cate.
